Are you looking for virtual teaching solutions while schools across the country are in shut down mode to contain the spread of COVID-19?
I want to help teachers like you become confident with the basics of DIY online-teaching.
What you need to make distance learning work:
- Choose a free learning management system
- Choose content to convert into video lesson plans or link videos on youtube
- Choose a conferencing/messaging software to host office hours
In my opinion, the easiest and free LMS to self-start is Google Classroom. Google’s suite of education applications are very intuitive and work well with one another. I have been using Google Classroom for five years and I am also a Google, Level 1 Certified Educator.
For all the newbies out there, don’t be intimidated! You can do this, even though it’s new and happening super fast as a result of school shut downs. The key to success is to keep it simple. When you are more comfortable, add in another layer of interactivity.
I have put together a free guide about how to set up your very own Google Classroom and invite students & guardians. Get yourself set up. Then, check back later this week for more free guides about distance learning!
